‚AMERICAN MYTH‘ - a series of 7 paintings
In 'American Myth' Ali Eckert sets out on a search for beauty and decay. He creates scenic dioramas charged with symbolic content, thus enhancing reality into a ‚hyper-sensory reality‘ that is located between elements of visible reality and imagined, subconscious and fictitious reality.
He conserves these polarities with narrative references to the historical existence of the archangels who once gathered around the religious saviour of mankind. However, they do not provide any concrete clues. The locations become protagonists; the pictures become landscapes of the soul. The decay of today’s America reflects the identity crisis. In this way, Eckert’s ‚AMERICAN MYTH’ becomes a search for identity, even his own.
Eckert uses several transfer techniques to create multi-pigment layers on wood. At first glance, the art piece seems to be a painting, but in a more detailed look the viewer discovers skins of pigment layers.
