Self portrait -
underwater - Work exhibited at Saphira & Ventura Gallery in New York
at the solo "Aqua" in 2022. The inspiration came from the water, from the challenge to
represent the movement of water and, finally, to transfer feelings via a
figurative work. Through the color I try to have the observer feeling the
melancholy, the quietude, the freedom, but in a serene atmosphere of absence of
weight. Compared to the portraits, where is evident inner
psychological torment of the subject. Through water works he tried to transmit
a feeling of freedom, serenity, although the feeling of loneliness remains. The
whole atmosphere is still intimate and silent but now it is also relaxed. The media were chosen to depict the reflection and
the movement of water. "The water works represent Terdich's last
project, an extreme challenge which combines the message he conveys in his
portraits and figures and the technical complications to render the movement,
the transparencies and the light reflections of water and the fragmentation
effects of bodies under water. These works are unusual and modern paintings, of
complex realization, where the subjects are broken within the crystal water in
a multitude of dynamic reflections". (R. Colamine')
