A City with a Golden Heart. From the series "Images of imaginary cities".
Man is like a city. A separate place. Sometimes fortified, inaccessible, with defined borders, no passage, no entry. Sometimes open again, with gates open, bridges open, waiting and friendly. There are memories in this city, old architecture of memory. There are also plans to build something new. When getting to know the city of man, I often enter a labyrinth. Sometimes I get lost in it, but quickly I find myself. This is the price you pay for getting to know the other. When I persevere in my journey, I finally reach the Center, the Golden Market that each of us carries within - the Heart. This is where the mystical encounter with the other takes place, who each time turns out to be also me.
The images I create are not reflections of reality, but places created in my imagination. I don't paint what I see, but what I can sense behind my closed eyelids. My non-existent cities are places of internal expeditions and journeys. These are places where I can stand still. For me, each painting is a journey to a different world where I discover new aspects of myself and life.
