This kind of blue has the property to become
iridescent at dawn and dusk, also of capturing and absorbing light without
dying under the full sun which does not beat it down. Its density seeming rather reinforced.
Colour is confronted with the abstraction of forms, in
a treatment of materials that borrows from sculpture, leaning on Arte Povera,
the ancient parietal arts as well as that of the ancient kingdoms of Dahomey
(in Benin, place of years of artistic residencies where I found this same
pigment in the rituals of voodoo ceremonies).
Shapes composed by hand, without preparatory sketches,
which seem to be like in a cartouche and oil painted. Their irregular
asperities become as many random edges as possible to their projected shadows.
According to the exposure or a moving, they create the conditions of a
three-dimensional chiaroscuro with multiple optical effects.
