BIENNALE OF AUSTRALIAN ART 2018, BOAA, Ballarat, Victoria
Site responsive installation. A skeletal timber structure, encased within a transparent fabric jacket, reveals its growing domestic setting within. Supported by vintage cast iron wheels standing in the shallows of the lake, the work bears resemblance to a traditional miner's cottage, acknowledging Ballarat's gold mining past and its impacts on both the community and the natural environment. It serves as a reminder of the effects of modern-day mining industries on our most valuable natural resource: water, rather than gold.
