When I was in a forest school, I found a children’s marimba in the stock. After disassembling its keys, I installed them in different environments in the mountain, and let its sound resonating with nature.
You will listen to the sound of the forest creek and the iron keys hitting each other, simple as that. This is the fusion of the simple artificial instrument and the wild nature, producing unpredictable rhythms and pitches in nuances. The collision of water and metal is the percussion that mother nature created, and in this moment, Marimba, as an industrial product, is back home playing “music” with earth.
The water-driven prayer wheel is located in the mountain of Zhonglu, Danba County. The water from the sacred mountain continues to help spreading well-being, and the sound of Marimba makes it fly farther and lighter.
