After i made the labyrinth in 2020 an idea of illuminated labyrinth came in my mind. Winter 2022 in February first attempts with different candles in the snow were made. Due to very cold weather candles did not burn properly so i had to use crave candles. Bought around 800 candles and with help of friends who were not prepared at all what was coming it did happen. Before the candles were laid on the 2.3km path going in the middle of the labyrinth, it needed to be cleared out of snow, so lots of shovelling. Weather was windy and in the end it started to rain, so no support from sky above. Rain, wind and fog made it difficult to get any clear view high above, but yet a beautiful memory between friends was created. Later a musician friend Hartwin Dhoore used the video material for his tune called Labyrinth. So for me the whole concept behind this project was realisation that together anything is possible.
Project is a rehearsal for a next project with candles.
