"Venexiani"
is part of the series of illustrations "The sweet life of one
Italian monster" dedicated to Giacomo Casanova, one of the most
famous seducers of history, and to his love adventures in the Venice
of 1700.
Venetian
night, Carnival dance. The flower girl at the center of composition
gains the attention of everyone with her beauty and grace. Our
Casanova does not miss the opportunity to woo the young and beautiful
girl, disguised with the typical "moretta" and intent on
playing the mandolin. Next to the flower girl we see a richly dressed
noblewoman wearing a black lace shawl with a precious fan in her
hand. During the Venetian carnival the common people and the nobles
attended same parties. The important was to have fun and not be
recognized.
