"Transmadonna"

  In the artwork "Transmadonna" I was inspired by concepts about gender, religion and otherness as factors of categorization and discrimination. It begins with the exploration of a hairy woman who can be found in catalogs of monstrous figures and beasts of the medieval European imaginary and through the colonization of America, migrated to this continent in the form of a myth. The work contrasts these elements through a contemporary experiment of myth in times of a renewed understanding of gender identity.
