Elegy for an Elephant is a picture book of three children seeking their father’s soul. It honors ways we can connect to loved ones we have lost, and the timeless nature of love. This is an artwork of the front cover of the picture book.
Set between the sea and stars, the story follows the quest of a whale and two birds to repair from their fathers death. Flippers fold into the feathers as the children attempt to understand why Elysium the elephant ended his life.
Elegy for an Elephant is the debut imprint from Narratives of Nature.
This is a limited one of one edition: specially printed for the Arte Laguna Prize in large format.
The artwork in this book was created with watercolours, pencils, sea salt and seawater sourced from Aireys Inlet, Cape Town, Melbourne and Sydney. The artwork was hand painted, professionally scanned and digitally harmonised on Photoshop.
