‘Sweet LOVE Blue’,
Aluminum Dye Sublimation, 80 X 120 cm (32 X 48 inches), 2018.
In the year 2018 hunger was
unfortunately still a life-threatening peril for more than 800 million people
the world over, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the
United Nations. Thousands of organizations are engaged in the field of hunger
relief and I have decided to contribute my own humble share to this global
effort, by producing innumerable sweets to be provided to all with a lot of
love.
To this end I have gathered and
combined my passions for colors and for sweets, passions that are utterly
expressed in this Sweet LOVE Blue artwork. Here we see a countless pile of sweets,
each of which is flawlessly painted in a variety of magical colors. The myriad sweets
are all glossy and therefore are a source for endless reflections. The ice-blue
surface on which the candies are piled up is made of lustrous material which
further enhances these reflections. Also, one can notice that the sweets are
formed in the shape of four letters - L, O, V and E – so as to express my love,
which is spread to the world employing the reflective look of the scene.
One of my artistic practices while creating my artworks is
to first produce a short footage around the painting's theme and then choosing
one frame, which I later turn to be the final still artwork. The present
painting is actually one frame that I have chosen among 250 frames that constitute
the footage.
