Questioning the Shadow
Concept
“General cultural values may be quite basic to our
fundamental personality structures, but owning to the fact of their repression
they will remain primitive and therefore negative”
Edward C. Whitmont
Under the River
Transcends the literal to float in the realm of the surreal.
Shadows and lights suggest depth and movement, as if we were observing the
surface of a river from a hidden and deep perspective, where sunlight (the
light of consciousness) barely penetrates and filters among the dancing forms.
Just like the dark and mysterious waters of the river, our
understanding of ourselves is commonly unexplored, suggesting that there is
much more beneath the surface of our usual consciousness. On the other hand, as
we collectively transition towards a new revelation of what "I am,"
the consciousness of how we relate to life and the environment will change.
By proposing a change in the individual paradigm, "Under
the River" resonates with the idea that self-perception would flow
intertwined with the broader ecosystem of life. This link would ultimately
alleviate unnecessary suffering by accepting and exploring new ways of being
and relating to the environment.
In other words: By challenging the conventional perception of
the self as separate from the whole, this piece becomes a powerful imagery for
change, both personal and collective, encouraging a more harmonious and
sustainable relationship with the world around us.
Innovation
The RR-Ink Technique, developed exclusively for “Questioning
the Shadow” and under the exclusive proprietorship of the artist, mimics the
developer, stop bath, and fixer of the traditional X-ray development process.
Just as X-rays reveal what cannot be seen with the eyes,
RR-Ink becomes a technological metaphor for the artist’s journey, penetrating
the surface to explore unseen depths.
Objective:
“Questioning the Shadow” proposes to create transformative
moments. In this context, self-transformation is not merely an act of personal
growth; it is a critical juncture—a singularity—where the individual’s internal
landscape shifts to meet the demands of an evolving world.
Through a series of multimedia installations, QS is ready to
hold environmental awareness, economic connections, cultures and communities,
health and wellness, urbanization, work-life balance, and technological
innovation, weaving these elements into a cohesive fabric while also
questioning the transformative force of the collective force.
