Lacquered Scars is a metaphorical portrait of who I am at the end of a year of hurting and healing. It is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese tradition of mending cracked pottery with golden lacquer, which creates a far more precious peace than the original. Likewise, the wounds we suffer become sources of resilience and personal growth, sculpting a sterling version of ourselves. My hope for this piece is that it serves as a reminder to own and honor the scars that truly are worth their weight in gold.
