At the one hand, these works are describing the
significance of the home like the motto “home is where the heart is” and at the
other hand, they take the viewer into another world. A house means security and
a home. The desire for security is significant for everyone. The wish to have a
home is something deeply rooted in each of us. Where is our home now in these
times when we commute
to work and migrate to new cities?
We keep the memory of our home in our hearts.
Fragments of memories of our homes remains forever alive in our hearts.
This is what give me the inspiration for my collection
“Wishhouse”. I aim to create an imaginary house made from parts of iconic buildings
across the globe. For my works, I cut my drawings that I did from of actually
existing buildings all over the world and put them together to imaginary
architectural sceneries. I am playing with constructing and deconstructing, in
a sense, the old house still exists, but in a different form and always in our
heart.
To illustrate that, I applied drawings on already used/shoot paper targets as a symbol for a situation that you cannot escape that you must face, or in other words, the target is on you. To give my works more expression I edited the drawings as well digital, so I was combining traditional handmade drawing with digital media.
