The graphic novel was developed in cooperation with Andreas Trubel, a man living with dementia. The story tells from the time shortly before the diagnosis to the life with the diagnosis.
It talks about sleeping problems, visiting doctors and ways of dealing with the situation. Everyday life is also told: Jogging through the gardens of Schönbrunn, playing ping pong and games on the laptop, weight training, regular meals and a lot of humor. Andreas is a funny and optimistic person.
These aspects and especially his passion for technology are an important part of the story told in the graphic novel. In the graphic novel Andreas becomes the inventor of a story preservation station (SPS).
As the name suggests, the aim of the SPS is to preserve stories. SPS is a mix of technical devices. If a story is preserved, it goes through five stations: Audio recording, visualization, mix, emotion extraction, jam output.
The end product is memory jam, which is bottled like a conventional jam and preserved through the special process mentioned above.
So the story is in the jam or the jam is full of stories. The special composition, the color of the jam, the consistency, the smell, the taste, the sound when the jar is opened, can lead to the story being relieved. Of course, Andreas knows everything about his stories, but in this way, other people can empathize with him and can imagine how it feld.
