I have learned from a quotation, which implies “The personalities you have results from the places you have been to, books you have read and the people you have been in love with.” Nowadays, the Internet has become an essence of life. Therefore, I suppose the quote should be rewritten as “Your personal computer contains your personalities, the places you have been to, books you have read and the people you have been in love with.”
We can easily know how a person is by only looking into his/her personal computer. Digits are digital, but human beings are emotional, which enables people to leave some clues in the computers. Every action while we are using computers exposes our characteristics. An organized desktop may be owned by a methodical owner; a computer filled with jig. files may be owned by a photographer; the a recent played music in a playlist may tell if the either the listener is lonely or in love.
Our personalities, habits, lifestyle and vocation decide what kind of applications we are more likely to use. I suppose an application is a private place which we live in. We share what we have to others and we also hide private secrets from them.
When we shop online with an application, we are actually shopping in a supermarket virtually; when we use photoshop to embellish our photos, we are actually having a virtual plastic surgery. We share those beautified photos to others rather than the original photo which shows how we actually look like.
I use Illustrator to make a serial of illustrations of “An app= A private place” which referred as” in my computer”. Illustration “in” indicates my desktop, “my” as chosen applications and from illustrations “c” to “r” indicates each my most frequently used application.
Interestingly, at the same time I am creating these illustrations, they become a part of my never veiled in my computer.
I do not encrypt my computer and I never lend it to anyone, because it is definitely “a private place” of mine. Today, I want to introduce to you my frequently used apps and some of the hidden information that I have never show to others. The hidden is going to make you guess what personalities I have, what places I have been to, what books I have read, what kind of people I have been in love with and ultimately who I am.
