"The whole is greater than
the sum of the parts." Aristotle. What causes the parts to become whole?
What makes us feel whole? Vase Parts proposes this reflection.
We are made up of various parts
... of various facets of ourselves. Work, home, children, friends, fun, sex ...
We are all this together. If we want some of these facets (home, work, family)
and we don't have it, we don't feel whole. We don't need anyone specific, but
we need someone. We don't need anything, but we need something. We are self
sufficient, but at the same time we need other people and things to live in a
way that fills us.
The parts themselves do not
matter, but how these parts relate to each other. It is the connection that
matters. It is the relationship between the parts that make up your life, that
will make you whole. We don't need anyone, or anything, in isolation to be
happy, but for these people and things to connect within us. Fit and compose
what we are, compose our life.
Vase Parts proposes this
reflection on ‘being whole’. Integers are more than the sum of the parts by
their connection. Because they become other things when connected. You are
whole, regardless of how many parts you are made up of.
