These pictures show the prototype of the artwork: an armchair on a metal frame made of aluminium with a removable cover in the form of a hand-tufted pile carpet on a jute base. The chair stand is made of wood. The small-size prototype is made in ceramics.
The concept of “The Great Fish” with a person inside interests me as an ancient proto-image from the Old Testament. This is the level of values which I would like to address, and this is the language of classical art that I want to use regardless of whether a person is religious or not. Because it is the language of the development of our civilization.
The Old Testament prophet Jonah was captured and swallowed by a giant fish. What could happen to him as a living being in circumstances where death was approaching directly? His life and the meaning of his life ran in front of him in an instant. This armchair is my reflection on what a person promised when there was a need for a new vector of life. These days a person does not know what the world will be like in the next moment. What things will help him live and be with this unknown world, and not separately from the world, as inside this fish.
