Omaggio a Majakovskij
padre cosacco e madre ucraina).
Tribute to Mayakovsky
The union between image and word has existed
since the origins of writing. Poetry evokes and is powerful when it is
synthetic and strong like that of Mayakovsky which is inserted here and kept
like a jewel in a "stauroteca" obtained from recycled materials (a
cardboard confectionery box with a golden interior and a box for calendar, also
made of cardboard). The container was printed with polymaterial matrices in the
chalcographic press with typographic colors. The image presents the open work,
like a flower whose petals protect the mystery of the word. This is revealed in
the box, unexpectedly on the inside of the lid and in dialogue with the
aniconic shapes and the "drops of blood (which) blacken and bud on the
slate lips". The silver and black color of the closed package is inspired
by the verses “And he went out to isolate himself in the night, widow the moon”
of the poem “Pena” by the great Russian poet (from a Cossack father and a
Ukrainian mother).
