My lighting series “Lightbodies” is a formal investigation into the viscous behaviour of hand-blown glass.
Lightbody04 is less a singular design object than a snapshot of interacting forces. The suspension of the lamp, a continuous steel cable, forms a viscous glass body caused by an interplay of overpressure and gravity.
The bubble-like shape of the glass in combination with a diffuse surface finish makes it possible to multiply the inner light source. The frosted surface of the glass guarantees an adequate light scattering.
Like in the other lightbodies the original function represents the geometrical and programmatic boundaries of the hand-blown glass object.
