Introducing the 'Dosvitky' apron, a captivating addition to the 'Korovai' collection by the esteemed GUNIA Project. This collection delves into the depths of the Ukrainian wedding tradition, embracing creativity and innovation.
Drawing inspiration from the sacred rituals and enchanting elements of the bride and groom's attire and the mesmerizing artworks of the past, the design of the 'Dosvitky' apron is a testament to the rich heritage it represents.
The intricate embroidery on this apron pays homage to the traditional Ukrainian evening gatherings known as dosvitky, which were cherished during the colder seasons. Each thread is meticulously adorned with delicate beads, taking inspiration from the naïve rushnyky (traditional towels) found in the esteemed Ivan Honchar Museum collection.
Symbolizing the essence of the Ukrainian wedding tradition, the embroidered motif features a couple, doves, and an angel, encapsulating the profound love and celestial blessings bestowed upon the newlyweds.
It takes up to 10 hours to meticulously embroider each apron by hand, ensuring that every bead is perfectly placed, resulting in a remarkable piece of art.
