Confidently Lost is a project about an exploration of silence inspired by my personal experience of tinnitus.
Silence is not an eerie void, but an enchanting place for exploration. It unfolds all the existential and experiential meanings in the notion of silence-phenomena. It is deep, rich, beautiful, crazy and full of random answers and potentials. Silence is important for human experience. However, many of us take it for granted and hardly appreciate it.
Confidently Lost is an invitation to silence. It attempts to bring silence back and make people conscious of it. Based on the self-dialogue theory and my auto-ethnography journey, a turntable was created to play silence rather than sounds, to encourage people to experience and enjoy silence actively by listening to it and themselves. Random patterns appearing on the record in silence simulate the stream of consciousness happening in the self as the thoughts are unique to a specific time and place. They might be sentimental, aesthetic, wise, or even nonsensical, but surface as a fully simultaneously new presence of the self and world which are redefined in silence. They are wild but beautiful. When silence is gone, the blue will be too, so please make sure silence is well cherished while you still have it.
Let's grab a record of silence, give silence a blast and be confidently lost there.
