7 Men

7 Men is a collage that I've made after curating the photomontage 7 Officers for the Fleming Museum of Art, Vermont.

These 7 Men became living people for me: I transported them in a contemporary time. They are in an empty Grand Central Terminal (NYC) during the 2020 pandemic. I was curious about these subjects and I was wondering how they could fit in these contemporary times. I want the viewer to see the non communication (even if people are so close) and the sense of emptiness that these people are fitted in. That is what I felt during Spring 2020 and that I can still feel.

As a technique, at  the beginning I started printing the images, then I cut, colored and clued the elements I was interested in to elaborate. After that, I scanned the collage. Finally I worked on that with digital programs. The artwork begins as an analogical collage that’s the technique that I actually know and I’m working on to develop to a better level.
