*#! is one of the five tapestries in the Familia Cenas installation. This type of medieval ornament was meant to enlighten guests about the host's values, but here it acts as the television sets that bombard us with their media debates. Transformed into summaries of journalistic reports, Joseph Kuhn-Régnier's illustrations (taken from an old children's book) mingle in a colorful pile of topics in vogue. The contrast leads to a reversal of expectations. The images, initially harbingers of chivalrous values, are tested on burning issues. Pushing stereotypes to the limit, codes are turned upside down. MM's citationism is a haranguing that brings ancient motifs (from the Middle Ages or the Renaissance) into collision with modern-day political correctness.
tapestry is produced in a maximum of 5 pieces, numbred
and signed. The print on thik fabric (100% cotton) is washable and
ironable. The rods and suspension chain are made of brushed steel.
