Jeffrey Wang a.k.a. CHiNGLiSH WANG was born in Taipei, Taiwan who spent most of his
adolescence and early adulthood in New York. Profound admiration and accomplishments
of art from the long family history has enlightened his passion towards art and design. He
then completed his academic training in Parsons School of Design majoring in fashion
design. Ever since then, he has accomplished different roles in the creative industry:
fashion designer, art director, creative director and artist.
Art is nonetheless an intricate self-exploration. The road for all artists on this adventure is
the sweet outcome of artworks as one’s unparalleled ideological statement to the world.
The influence of cultural impacts between the East and West has been a continuous
encounter for Wang. “Where I came from and who I am” is an inevitable thought –
yet the fluidity between cultures has been the most significant spark in the becoming of
an artist.
Rooted in bi-cultural backgrounds with a rigid Western academic art training, Wang adapts modernized approaches to reinterpret classic Chinese literary texts,
characters and cultural concepts.
Through diverse artistic mediums, he’s been on the path of exploring the possibilities of
cultural stereotypes and interpretations between Eastern and Western societies. With the
cultural fluidity in the flattening world, he transforms the possibility of transcultural
dissemination with the power of art.
