Being particularly inspired by Abstract Expressionist painters such as Helen Frankenthaler as well as Joan Mitchell as well as in Impressionism among others, Patricia combines the knowledge as well as the tradition of the past with her own contemporary view of life and art, which she expresses through her art.
Patricia von Andersen has studied Design, Opera singing and Political Science at Yale University, Freie Universität Berlin, Leeds Conservatoire as well as in Berlin, Hamburg, London, New York, Leeds, Salzburg and The Hague and has worked as a professional painter and opera singer internationally.
She works conceptually with a variety of mixed media to create her art works. She learned the Art of painting from a very young age from her mother, who is a painter herself. Furthermore, Patricia's parents always encouraged her to pursue her artistic passion in both music, opera singing in particular, and in visual arts.
Being an artist all her life, Patricia von Andersen always painted, whether it was painting the colours of music through her voice, being an opera singer, painting with colours through Design or from a certain point of her life concentrating mainly and wholeheartedly on visual arts as a painter.
Colour was a very strong source of inspiration for Patricia on various levels of life. Another big driving force to create has always been music, Italian Opera in particular. Patricia von Andersen incorporates the emotions of music, its rhythm, its colours, its meaning as well as its overall feelings into her paintings.
Patricia wants to bring positive energy, peace, wellbeing as well as happiness to the collectors homes and offices as well as into Museums. Collectors from all around the world appreciate Patricia von Andersen's artistry, which she expresses through a unique colour palette used in her artworks.
"My works arise from a profound inspiration that I draw in a recurring way from love, music and nature. Another source of inspiration for me have always been, among others, the painters of abstract expressionism such as Helen Frankenthaler, Joan Mitchell or Sam Francis, to name just a few representatives. The freedom of the expressive or the expressiveness of freedom are for me again and again an inner motor as well as an insanely strong motivation and indispensable necessity to paint and create every day anew with the greatest joy and dedication with an enormous inner focus. I combine the knowledge and tradition of the past with my own contemporary view of life and art, which I express through my work.
I search for truth, its ultimate form. I like to describe my paintings as "inner emotional landscapes" that seek to give tangible, external form to the vast and varied range of human emotions as well as universal experiences.
My works emerge from an almost meditative, but at the same time, very curious state and process that pays close attention to, as well as assigns meaning to, sound, light, colour and movement.
My work should ideally remind the viewers in their life again and again: to seek, strive for and find peace, contentment, happiness and healing. It should motivate them to see, seek and experience the good in life."
