Alexander Osipov was born in 1959 near Khabarovsk in the far Primorskiy Kray, then his parents moved in to Almaty Kazakhstan. The future artist studied at the Gogol Art School in Almaty and at the Zhurgenov State Theater and Art Institute. Painter, graphic artist, sculptor. The style of the images of Alexander Osipov cannot be confused with any other. And although the artist has repeatedly argued that he can, if necessary, achieve illusory similarity with nature - he prefers to stay in the space of a conditional language created from a mixture of formal techniques of the twentieth century, prone to inventing individual adverbs, paradoxical figurative systems, actualizing the game principle in the structure art.The artist's compositions are populated with strange characters living in the blackness of the night, but in same time at the multicolored day. They are cut, woven, stitched from the simplest elements: dashes, stripes and planes, surrounded by interlacing twisting lines of oscillograms and other signs, modestly pointing in the direction of the accompanying space of life.Sometimes these conditional figures are characterized by the plasticity of human bodies. Sometimes the figures and faces seem to be simple shells, only denoting the presence of the character. Sometimes, they turn into multiple gaps in the surface - it’s like entrances to caves or stairs to nowhere, meaning infinitely mysterious, a world of others eluding the final definitions. In these structures, echoes of stereometry of analytical cubism, Escher paradoxical spaces, and Vazareli optical games are heard.Jovial, physically strong man enjoying earthly joys, Osipov wrote intense, dramatic pictures. He works in blocks, cycles. As a miner, produces reservoir, only then proceeds to the development of the next.His works are scattered in private galleries around the world.
