Dolors
Simó Consola was born in Lleida in 1957, in Catalonia. She worked in
the woodworking profession by family tradition but since very young
her passion was to be able to devote herself to art she studied mural
painting at the Escola de la Llotja in Barcelona.
The
main theme of her pictorial work is interest in the human being. The
dealings with multiple people of different ages in both the near and
professional environment have offered a wide range of information
through observation. Dolors Simó has reinforced her research with
knowledge of philosophical, pedagogical and anthropological basis.
Throughout
her career, the artist analyzes how we are, why we behave in a
certain way and not in another, how we interact with each other, how
we feel ... it is a work that addresses the human in the physical and
metaphysical field. Her human figure, stylized and of a very personal
style, has become the language of her artistic expression.
Dolors
Simó has worked as a drawing, painting and mosaic teacher for 30 years as well as a specialist trencadís mosaic artist having made
mosaics in Catalonia and abroad for 37 years. She has the record of
the woman who has made more mosaics in the world.
Her
pictorial work has been exhibited internationally, to highlight: at
The National Art Center in Tokyo, at Hotel Armani in Dubai, at
Beijing Contemporary Art Expo in China and at the Louvre in Paris.
Dolors
Simó currently lives and paints in a rural area of her homeland. The
contact with nature and silence are indispensable elements to
continue performing her art.
