Megan Seres is a visual artist, who in the past four years has become a full time practising artist, dedicated to honing her skills as a figurative painter. With a passion for storytelling, Megan can now include poetry, sculpture and video to her oeuvre. Consequently, this happy marriage both extends her practice and allows her to follow her dream of becoming a multi-media artist.
The evolution into video, sculpture and poetry allows Seres to introduce another element to this union, the ability to place surprising and intriguing components within the work. In the age of post truth, her capacity to link past superstitions of a different era with the here and now is both whimsical and disconcerting. Conceptually and materially her works explore and extend the boundaries of the perception of reality,
the ephemeral nature of light, shadow and time.
Seres is a multi-award winning artist who, in 2004, completed a Fine Arts degree with 1st Class honours at the National Art School, Sydney Australia. Solo shows include ‘Fairy Tales, Myth and Imaginary Tales, 2016 and ‘Before the Ending, 2018. She has been included in 27 group shows and has been a finalist in 27 art prizes nationally. Her work is held in numerous private and public collections including Adderton House, QLD; Australian Standfirst, VIC; Moran Arts Foundation and Redlands, NSW. Commissions include 20+ artworks created for the TV series ‘Love My Way’ for Southern Star Pictures and 12 artworks for Adderton House.
Additional projects have included portrait commissions, teaching workshops for teachers and students, mentoring, artist talks, art prize judging, inclusion in the consultation meeting of ‘Revising the Code of Practice’, National Association of the Arts Australia (NAVA) and recently writing an ‘Artists Guide to Competitions for (NAVA).
