Kalinka Serafim is an Italian-Brazilian visual artist based in Portugal. The artist creates her pieces line by line with a nib pen and Chinese ink. Her work is very detailed when seen up close, what challenges the viewers to understand what is going on between the lines, inviting them to take a step back to expand their vision and see the entire art piece from another perspective.

Using a nib pen and Chinese ink in her work was fundamental to the evolution of her unique artistic style and are currently the tools she explores the most. Kalinka also uses acrylic paint and watercolor to bring color and texture to her pieces, which results in a fusion of clear lines, yet sinuous and fluid, with the spontaneity of organic stains created by chance, bringing contrast to her work in black and white.

In her creations, Kalinka translates her interpretation of the world through profuse drawings. The force of nature and the essence of the being are recurring sources of inspiration to the artist, who creates compositions where those universes merge through hermetic lines, in a unique, fluid, and free visual narrative. Her art seeks to capture the sense of freedom, expansion, and fluidity of life.
