Eco-responsible approach, research and exploration are the principles on which Sebastien Pridmore's artistic approach is based. It is from nature that he draws his ideas to create natural and eco-responsible paints. Matured in water or alcohol, his materials, close to inks, were inspired by times gone by.
Eight years ago, fascinated by the time which alters materials, the artist wanted to challenge this natural phenomenon by seeking to make the ephemeral durable. His early research led him to work with coffee, which he managed to concentrate and give it a thick texture, which allowed him to create strong contrasts in his works. Seeking to extend his chromatic palette, he then turned to other food products, managing in particular to stabilize squid ink, tea, wine, turmeric and beetroot.
Recently in 2020, Sebastien challenged himself to make murals, so he focused on evolving his natural pigment extractions from their liquid forms to a thicker form so they could be applied and worked directly on walls vertically. At the same time, the artist became interested in materials symbolizing alteration by time or by natural elements such as rust. This new research work in order to thicken his mixtures, finally led him to opt for resins allowing to preserve the depth of his natural pigments while allowing him to work this material with a spatula / knife on a wall.
