Karly (born on 1965) studied
cognitive psychology at Paris X University and wrote a thesis on the use of
preferred colors in the construction of
artwork. Anne V (born on 1970) studied art history during three years in the same
University and specialized in the
construction of structure in volume after training in woodworking. They work together since 2011.
The artist's hand shapes, it
orders the chaos of matter and creates a world to explore. The imaginary is a
matrix constantly fed by the vision, experience and intuition of the creator.
The work of Karly and Anne V abolishes all forms of symbolic or physical
borders. Sculptures, paintings, the support is often absorbed by the material,
it constitutes its skeleton. The artist duo gives it body and brings out its
soul through color, light or volume. Karly and Anne V, two artists, two faces,
two sensibilities and two intersecting gazes, intermingle to produce intense,
organic, hybrid works. The goal is common: to touch. The artworks are catalysts
of emotions, aesthetic experiences in multiple forms. Its are striking for the
richness of the references invoked between pop culture, contemporary archeology
and mythology. The artists build bridges between history, the history of art
and anchor themselves in our adrift society. Their work is a mosaic, a swarm of
dreams and the culture of the image that they distill to extract a fragment, a
totem. Freedom, strength, harmony are the pillars of their joint artistic
approach. Karly and Anne V frantically assemble, transform and shape the
material like an act freed from the constraints of time and space. They give
birth to mutant beings, mixtures of synthetic and organic matter like exquisite
corpses. Artists open up new territories at the confluence of abstraction,
expressionism or even arte povera. Their art is also hybridization and cannot
be locked in movements, boxes, words. It is the living manifestation of what
defines us as humans: our ability to create, to appropriate the world around us
and to leave our mark on it. Art is a bulwark against the passing of time and
our impermanence. The art of Karly and Anne V is a deceives death...
