Sandra Lieners lives and works in Luxembourg/France. She has a classical formation, having studied in Florence (It) at Accademia di Belle Arti and in Vienna (Aut) at Die Angewandte – University for applied arts.
Following her studies in Florence, her work entered private collections in Italy and the public collection of the Accademia di belle arte. Her work was featured in the Segno contemporaneo show at the academy, curated by Massimo Orsini, Marco Raffaele and Vincenzo Ventimiglia.
Since 2013, her work was featured in institutional shows in Luxembourg in CAPE – Centre des arts pluriels in 2016, Rotondes in 2017, Neimenster in 2018, the Valentiny Foundation in 2019 and Schlassgoart in 2022. Public collections like the MNHA – National Museum for History and Art, Villa Vauban – Museum of the City of Luxembourg, the Ministry of Culture among others feature her paintings.
Lieners collaborates with different European galleries like Fellner Contemporary (Lux), Ceysson & Bénétière and Galerie vis-à-vis (Metz). She has been invited for artist residencies in New York, Vienna and Slovenia. Her work has been awarded the Pierre Werner Prize in 2018 and she was nominated for the Edward Steichen Award – Luxembourg resident in NYC in 2017.
