My biography

I am a Finnish artist and painter, MarjaLeena Pohjola-Valkola.

I was born in a little village Multia middle of Finland 4.6.1954

I studied in the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 1984 and since then have been actively working in the field of art in Finland and abroad.

During many years I have used external things with my paintings - chairs, tables, mittens, old wall papers so that those things and paintings have made a combination – an old furniture placed by the painting and a part of it is on the painting. That way I have worked about 20 years.

In Italy I have worked many artists residencies, first 1983 in Garassina near Florence, Residence of Artists’s Association Finland, there I have been many times. Other places are near Rome, in Casaprota and a residence near by Bracciano.

Recent years I have also made environmental art works and some of those I am offering to your Arte Laguna Word exhibition.

Year 2016 I was participating to your exhibition with a painting and a chair.
