Radames Pinzon has proven to be a talented and innovative artist, who has been awarded three times the most prestigious National Award of Panama (Concurso Nacional Roberto Lewis 1999, 2006, 2018).He is well-known for his powerful dream-like imagination and the hidden stories and themes that flow out surprisingly from his paintings. Sometimes he draws an extraordinary world in Black and White, as he goes through difficult times in his life. Some other times his paintings become full of Color, while keeping at the same time his masterful handling of creative form and style. In what follows, some thougths of the artist Radames Pinzon himself:“The Panama Canal is for me like the identity of being Panamenian and I believe that it is something that connects us with the world, that makes us visible to the world. I also think that we should make use of that visibility that the Canal provides to us. Cultural works can be vehicles that take us towards those destinies that sometimos are so unknown and at the same time so close to us. Because our geographical position allows most world cultures to cross our country. I am Panamenian from this century, who tries to be universal, who does not want to be limited by the technological media explosion. I still feel the empirical and primitive tool that allows us to work like an artist from any era.It is very difficult to create new images in the middle of so much iconographic downloads that we have now, so much information. But I believe that God has given me a gift for creating images that you will not find in a computer. The originality through which I can express my internal world includes the capacity and training that life has given me for this moment in time. And I believe that I have been able to achieve it.”
