Phillip F. Schewe is a scientist, photographer, and writer. He has physics and English degrees from the University of Illinois and Michigan State University, including a PhD in the subject of particle physics. Much of his professional career has been devoted to writing and popularizing physics research.
On the literary side, he was for many years a playwright. Some of his plays have been performed in New York and Washington, DC. He has contributed articles to the Washington Post and the New York Times He is the author of two books: The Grid, a look at how society uses and loses electricity (and declared by NPR as one of the science books of the year); and Maverick Genius, a biography of physicist Freeman Dyson. He is at work on a novel.
