Fabiano Paterlini was born in Bagnolo Mella (Bs) on August 30, 1952, where he lives and develops his artistic passions in complete self-study.
His first works, in black and white, follow in the footsteps of his father, but soon the color takes his drawings of necessity. Research leads him to experiment with techniques and materials of any kind.
His first solo show dates back to 1973 at the Piccola Paganora gallery in Brescia.
In the following years there were numerous group exhibitions and national competitions in which he participated, meeting the favorable opinion of critics, increasingly consolidating the surrealist aspect of his works. In the 2000s there was a turning point: in 2004, in collaboration with other artists, he founded the Bagnolo Mella Artists Group - GABM - and became its president. This is a new stimulus to continue research and artistic production is intensified with strong participation in thematic exhibitions. In the meantime, the surrealist line develops exponentially until it arrives in 2009 with an artistic project “the light” presented in the personal exhibition “dal Disegno alla luce” in March 2009. Solo show with his father.
2009 and 2010 are years of satisfaction. First prize in the painting section of the 2009 Nocivelli prize (Verolanuova BS), competition for the diffusion of modern / contemporary art, and special mention at the 2010 Nocivelli prize. 'use of iron, wood, glass, aluminum, paper and everything that can be used to create shapes and emotions. From an interview with the artist: "The love for nature, for everyday life, for human ingenuity, requires the use of materials originating in an original way or in an elaborate way from" our mother earth "and it highlights how much this makes available to enhance the harmony of things and the life that animates them. The built structure deteriorates over time and it is here that the love for research and the desire to give new history and new "life" to everything that is destined to disappear "intervenes.
At the same time, an intense collaboration with Cultural Associations began, for the enhancement of the Brescia area and the events of the MIlleMiglia with a succession of themed exhibitions. He collaborates with GABM, with whom he has organized more than one hundred art events, Apice, Bresciarte, Arteviva, Slow-Art, CFP school, Capirola in Arte High school and other Brescia and national associations.
The works are increasingly designed and creativity focuses on aesthetics and symbolism.
The research, both of shapes, materials and colors, becomes more and more important. He puts the germ of primary colors into "abode". Preparations and assemblies characterize the work of the period. The exhibition held in Udine at the Art-time gallery was important, where with a series of works dedicated to sailing regattas he enhanced the design of the works for inventiveness, elegance and use of noble materials such as glass and lacquers. Subsequently, respect for primary colors allowed him to develop a monochromatic vein, where monochromaticity is enhanced by light, both natural and artificial, by shadows and shapes. In this context, we can mention an important project whose embryo was born in 2007 and is still active today: "the evolution of curves" ..., "a project created to demonstrate that by using only the circle as graphics, well-defined shapes can be obtained. The variation of the rays and the continuous tangency of the circles allow to generate figures that can then be completed with color and matter ".
Project developed with paintings, graphics and iron sculptures which, with the collaboration of his son Marco, evolves into applicative thinking as a research project for the development of forms to be proposed as urban settings for the enhancement of women.
A collaboration with the nascent SlowArt artistic movement (2014) will certainly be a reason for further evolution. This allowed him to land, again with SlowArt, at the Diocesan Museum of Milan (2014), the Ricci Foundation in Barga (2018) and the Canevari Gherzi Foundation in Sedriano (MI) (2018).
Over time he manages to condense all the researches developed into the multi-material sculptures and the sculptures are enriched with the use of primary monochromes, gilding and LED lighting with the idea of redeveloping and giving new life to elements and / or objects intended to be forgotten or thrown away.
From 2019 the artistic activity has been enriched with a new trend: "digital processing of photographs". Photographic shots made ad hoc to be then "manipulated" and enriched with emotionality and explicit messages. Here he played the lockdown period for Covid-19 in an incisive way.
This is the path taken by Fabiano and certainly there will be much to discover.
