As selfish as this sounds, I really make art for me. I enjoy the high of experimenting with different visual combinations. Each piece is based on a specific skill goal I am working to develop. Recently I have focused on color mastery and using line and flow direction to best effect. As I work through these goals I keep my subjects and compositions simple. The subjects come from my immediate world; home, family, travels and job.( I work full time in medical imaging.) My simple pieces often reflect deep subconscious feeling. For example, after workung for years in medical breast imaging, I become acutely aware of how women struggle simultaneously with health and vanity issues. This is reflected in my female torso series which began as a study in color and flow direction.
