I am Catharina Moscato: a Belgian-Italian mother of four, painter, food enthusiast, world traveler - at least when the world is not controlled by a pandemic- but most importantly, a starting ceramist. From an early age, I have been passionate about art. Besides raising my four children, I have always been to the art academy (SLAC, Leuven). I did portrait painting for six years and then conceptual ceramics for another six years. This year I graduated in conceptual ceramics. In the past two years, I did several masterclasses:
- Alberto Bustos: Fillamente oktober 2018, Ostend - Belgium
- Tortus: Throwing large shapes , may 2018 Copenhagen - Denmark
- Gaya Ceramics / Akira Satake: Finding the beauty in imperfection , may 2019 Ubud - Indonesia
- Daphne Corregan: Conversation pieces sept/okt 2020, Certaldo - Italy
-2021 artist in The spotlight artelagunaworld
- exhibition at London art Biƫnnale 2021
In my work, I try to capture the world around me with the amazement of the child in me that I never want to let go off. My main source of inspiration has always been nature. From majestic landscapes or waves to images of microscopic bacterias and insects, nothing nature has to offer leaves me unmoved. This is reflected by the organic shapes and vibrant colors of my sculptures. I want my work to represent both the power and feminine sensuality of nature. I want to create a space in which people are free to give meaning to my work from their own lived realities.
Enjoy!
