Omar Mendoza
Born on November 4, 1993 in Mexico City. He graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). With 4 solo exhibitions, the last of these in the Museum of Anthropology of Xalapa, the second largest pre-Hispanic art precinct in the country, sharing room with pieces of great historical relevance. In his upcoming projects, his solo exhibition in the main room at the Steve Turner Gallery in Los Angeles stands out. He has participated in more than 15 group exhibitions and having a great interest in research, he has been part of 5 art residencies, being selected in "A Studio In The Woods", by Tulane University, in the United States. He is currently part of the national system of creators (formerly FONCA), likewise he has received important awards throughout his career.
His work is currently developing an investigation based on the recovery of extraction techniques and the use of colors of pre-Hispanic origin that he has used in his own artistic interests as a way to reconnect with a chromatic identity originating in Mexico, seeking to generate questions about our relationship with history, capitalism and the role of industrial processes in contemporary art.
