Federico Masini was born in 1988 in Moncalieri, in the province of Turin. After his classical studies, he enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. Initially, he pursued photography as a hobby, but over time, he found a way to turn his passion into work. His documentary and fashion-lifestyle shots have earned him collaborations with numerous agencies and public and institutional entities, which have taken him on travels throughout Italy and the world. The advent of the Covid-19 pandemic put a halt to travel and collaborations, leading him to embark on personal work involving archives and new projects, where he explores the relationship between man and nature, death, and ecstatic experiences in nightlife.
His photographs have been published in various Italian and international newspapers, including Elle, Monocle, Vice, Collater.al, Corriere della Sera, La Repubblica, and La Stampa. He was the winner of the Imagenation award at the Liquida Photofestival 2022 and was selected for the Critics' Choice 2022 competition by LensCulture.
He held his first solo exhibition in Turin in 2022 at Spazio Musa, and his work has been showcased at various events, including the East London Photography Festival 2018, the Liquida Photo Festival 2022 and 2023, Imagenation Milan 2022, Imagenation Paris 2023, the Museum of Poetry in Piacenza in 2022, PHOS in 2017 and 2022, and ArtGallery37 in 2017.
