'' Utopia contains the most powerful and mysterious lifeblood in history.
Utopia arises from the past to unveil the horizon.
Only those who look towards what we do not see have the opportunity to change, sense and touch the world in a peculiar manner."
After many years
spent abroad, Amsterdam/Bordeaux, Marc Brousse currently lives in Brussels.
Graduated in architecture from the TUDELFT Faculty, he began in 2016 his
artistic career imbued with his profession as an architect.
"Life is a line,
thought is a line, each line is a vision of space and of the world."
Manlio Brusantin.
The artist approaches
from this hypothesis a work of composition on the soul of the line, in the
mechanisms of spatial composition, in its relation to the time equation, to see
the evolution of an abstract infinitesimal construction towards a movement forming
a space, a figurative and narrative perimeter. Marc thus deploys an artistic
language called traitillism by capturing the line in his lifetime, to generate
allegories between man, his Architecture and that of Nature.
"Each line is
born from a breath so that an inspiration gives the next bar and exhales the
line towards an imagination."
Marc considers the
line to be between two instants, unlike the point which is associated with the
instant. The line represents a quantity, a volume of time, describing a
movement. The eye which fixes the line seizes time and can give it form. Thus,
in a process of elaboration, the line follows the measure of a life, that of
the artist's time. The line comes alive to the rhythm of its breathing.
Hundreds of thousands of lines are born in the aspiration of his breath,
offering the maturity faithful to each work to transpose the architectural and
urban organism to different scales of readings and transform measurements into
imaginations.
The artist constructs
his reflection on the intimate relationship that exists between the
architecture of Nature and that of Man. During his travels, the artist has
found that cultural and architectural development follows the epigenetic
concept. There are similarities in urban configurations and the architectural
matrix of Nature. Each city, an urban artefact, is a unique “species”, a living
organism where its juxtaposition of buildings and spaces constitutes the
epigenetic program of this place. Epigenesis - as a principle of development
where each building not only echoes the existing environment but adds something
new and dynamic to the city and its environment.
The artist
interweaves his architectural knowledge with the different modes of artistic
expression; sculpture, drawing, video. In the continuity of the process of
architectural and artistic design, the artist explores new medium to magnify an
illustrated reflection in correlation with the ancestral techniques of
architectural reflection. The works form a link between gray matter and raw
material to express “Archi-sculptures” putting in tension according to the
scales of expression, the characteristics of the architecture of Nature and
that of Man.
“Everywhere
where there is interaction between a place, a time and an expenditure
of energy, there is rhythm” (H. Lefebvre 2004, 15)
