I can remember drawing on the wall of my bedroom before I could walk. Drawing was just what I did, it was just like breathing. Never encouraged to become an artist but now I have time to think about my work and life. I've always loved art that was different or had more just a 2D piece on a canvas. It's when you see a Van Gogh for the first time and you see the layers of thick oil paint, he's almost making his vision 3D. I've also love shadow and light and dark, how they play against each other, and I wanted my work to almost come alive with movement. So I decided to make a piece of art that moves as you move. So I decided to make a 3D piece that gives the impression of movement by making a lattice effect that when lit with a spot it casts a shadow on the canvas. Also as you walk or move in front of it, it also moves with the shadows. It is difficult to see from just a 2D image but it does work, well I think it works.
