LIVES AND WORKS
LIVES AND WORKS
Sara Madan’s brush with art, especially mixed media, began with her grandmother at a very young age. Her paintings are like patches of fabric in which the faces, landscapes and abstraction rise and fall like the folds in the textile art her grandma made.
Sara is a multidisciplinary self-taught artist, born in a Portuguese colony and raised in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She holds Masters in Finance and minor in Modern Art History. Creativity has always been her passion since a very young age.
Her inspiration comes mainly from her personal experiences as a multicultural human as well as her inter-connection with nature. Sara explores her inner language and ideas through the human body abstraction. She creates surfaces of color and texture with paint, often incorporating layers of air-drying clay on delicate paper which she pre-colors to create layers to signify passage of time. Most of her contemporary paintings are a distillation of collected memories and experiences she has gone through.
Sara has participated in several collective exhibitions
in Bahrain and abroad namely in Mexico, UK, and Oman. Her most resent group exhibition was in Oman, namely "Creative Imagination".
Collections: Her works-on-paper are
held in private collections in Bahrain, the UK, the USA, and Asia.
She loves to contribute through art to charitable associations. Her most recent was to The Brain Appeal in UK where all her works on paper was sold out.
Sara says “I seek to convey a sense of time passing and feelings lived within a fleeting moment”.
