Emerging artist, 1st exhibition at Open Space Venice 2020, work Clear Tear.
The creative pseudonym Clear Tear does not hide the artist's name, but is an addition to it. Julina Lopatina is a contemporary artist who creates performances, visual installations and interactive exhibitions. The chosen pseudonym represents a pure or transparent tear as an emotion without colour, the original, existing only in imagination. It reflects in itself the main goal of the artist's work - to evoke emotion in the viewer: one, several or a whole spectrum. Never leaving the mind of the viewer indifferent.
Realising her projects the artist thinks about how to most effectively convey her idea to the viewer. First of all for her this is a form of communication with the outside world, and discussion of acute social issues and philosophical topics seem to be the only ones worthy of this "dialogue". Physics, philosophy and psychology are studied and discussed in every work of the artist.
The first step to becoming an artist was entering a short course in painting at the Saint Martins University in London. Here it came to understand that painting is not the right tool, and this form of expression does not give sufficient interaction with the viewer, which the artist wanted to achieve. In the fall of 2019, 4 projects of works were born one after another, united in the series "The artist should be naive”. Everything turned out naturally and very quickly, as if information and parts of projects had been collected and prepared for a long time in the subconscious and suddenly entered consciousness ideally formed.
One of the important events that influenced Julina's work was a visit to Marina Abramovic's performance at the Serpentine Gallery in London, which by a lucky chance she happened to visit. Julina was struck by the power of interaction with the audience, simple yet strong and overturning consciousness experience. The work of Marina and her assistants, the atmosphere created, according to Julina this experience gave her the key to the door of the implementation of her ideas. And it helped the artist to understand how it is possible to leave a deeper mark in souls of audience, how to make them stop for a second and think.
