Andreas
Kremer, living in Cologne/Germany, began his artistic path after he had worked
successfully in business for many years. Never losing touch with photography
during the years, 2014 he changed his focus completely to photography as visual
art and hasn’t put down his camera since.
In his
last project “The Last Resort” from 2021, he is using the collage technique in
a modern, digital form, following the tradition of using collages to point out
social or political grievances.
Currently he is working on his new project “Art de Fact”, where he reflects on
the zeitgeist, which seems increasingly surreal due to its instability, unpredictability
and unreality. Even though we are more concerned than ever with the
socio-political issues dealt in “The Last Resort”, such as climate change, war,
post-factuality or social erosion, "Art de fact" is about something
else: if efficacy means more than truth, virtuality increasingly replaces
physical reality, and affects dominate meaning and reason, then only art can
provide support, orientation and meaning.
For
Kremer, the further development of the medium of photography is incessant and
unavoidable. Whether with or without AI, collages or montages - these
techniques allow to increase significantly the creative component of the own
work, for instance compared to purely documentary photography.
Since
2016 Kremers works have won several international awards and have been featured
and exhibited in online magazines, portals and galleries.
