Lena Kaapke, born in 1989 in Flensburg, is a young artist based in Kiel (Germany). Kaapke works as a conceptual artist in the field of installative contemporary ceramics. She graduated in Fine Art and Ceramics in 2015 at the Muthesius Art Academy. After that she finished a three years research project about "the color red in ceramic technologies." As a result she developed the "redspace" color system for the color red in ceramics. She has worked in Danmark, Japan, China, the Netherlands and Canada. Since 2015 her work is exhibited in many places national and international. Her work was awarded by many awards, latest by the the Vulnerable Art Award of the Diözese Rottenburg (2. Prize)(2022), the Culture award of the city of Kiel (2022), the Hessian State Prize (Promotion Award)(2021) and the European honorary award of the Europa Union Leverkusen (2021). Since last year she is represented as one of the youngest artists in the Federal Collection of Contemporary Art of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany.
