Volti di Jacq Project
Why portraying faces?
Every single person is distinguishable, identified and remembered by some of its peculiar body features. Portraying faces without their specific traits, means to gather the soul of the depicted individual.
This project has exsisted since 2016 and during the first years it was focused on the people who live in Prato. Afterwards it developed in Italy and outside the national borders.
Jacq remains anonymous but his paintings do not. Concealing his identity is the artist’s way to escape prejudice in order to be judged just for his art
The artist chooses the person who insispires. The latter is depicted without being informed. The artwork is shared by the artist on Instragram and Facebook and the indentity of the subject is revealed by the subject itself, by friends or family members within a short time. The painting is in turn posted on the social networks by the people involved, for example they put their own portrait as a profile image.
From the canvas to the stickers: Sharing can also find nonconventional ways. The stickers aim to involve people and to make the project known in the world. Jacq’s followers ask the artist for the stickers. At a later time the followers post the stickers picture during their journeys around the world.
Jacq’s stickers may be found in New York, London, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, Berlin, Shanghai, Pechino, Florence, Venice, Miami, Ibiza, Paris, Lima ecc.
