Anja Haidecker was born in Vöcklabruck, Upper Austria, in 1993. She lives and works in Linz, AUT.
From 2013 to 2020 she studied Sculpture and Transmedial Space at the Art University of Linz - first in the class of Eva Grubinger, later in the class of Ali Janka and Tobias Urban (collective GELITIN) and at the École supérieure d'art et de design Marseille- Méditerranée in Marseille, France.
Since 2015 she is studying art and cultural studies at the University of Art and Design Linz, Austria. Further journeys took her to China, New York, Cambodia, Morocco etc. and repeatedly to Rome, where she lived for one year. During these journeys numerous works of art were created, which reflect her great interest in different cultures and life realities.
Anja’s artistic work is based on the exploration of processes between human and nature; focusing on the experience of sculptural working methods with the means of photography and their expansion, in order to playfully reflect the temporal transience of organic materials. The abstraction of space and the possibility of rediscovering and redefining objects beyond their original spatial location, is characterizing her oeuvre.
Her artistic work is primarily based on the use of sculpture and photography. Working along the characteristics of both, which are mutually dependent - two-dimensional image and three-dimensional space, is a continuous process in her work. Her interest lies in the question of how and why time and space complement or presuppose each other and how this is reflected in our environment.
