Alberto Guerrero Gil (Barcelona, 1975) is BA in History of Art at the University of Valladolid and BA in Fine Arts Restoration and Conservation at the Escuela Superior de Conservación y Restauración de Bienes Culturales in Madrid, specialising in Painting.
He worked for 11 years as a restorer of paintings and murals for several important private collections and churches throughout Spain and the Middle East. In 2009 he gave up restoring to concentrate on painting, his true vocation, work and research field until today. His work has been exhibited since 2004, and is part of corporate and private collections worldwide.
In his work as a creator, he takes the opposite course to paint restoration, accumulating layers, superimposing them and exploring the relationship between the different strata of opposite colors and textures created. He seeks a harmonious whole, that he explains as analogous to history, made up of millions of layers of reality, visible or concealed, which confer us with our own identity. He tends to look for a light source, sometimes central and others displaced, suggesting a misterious presence that, hidden behind the layers, gives meaning to reality.
